Commissioner Emma Darnell to Convene Public Hearing on Fulton County Services | Print |

Middle-income and upper-income African-Americans who live within certain census tracts in Fulton County have the highest percentage of deaths by cancer and heart disease in all of Fulton County, according to public health researchers. ¬† A 2012 Study of the 14-County Metro Area also disclosed that minorities and the poor, irrespective of income, are living closer to pollution points‚ÄĒland, air and water‚ÄĒthan other populations.

‚ÄúPeople want to know why?‚ÄĚ stated Fulton County District 6 Commissioner Emma I. Darnell. ‚ÄúMore and more, citizens are demanding real answers to real questions. ¬† I believe the time has come when we must transform the word ‚Äėtransparency‚Äô from rhetoric to reality. The government must move from data to action‚ÄĒfrom talking to listening.‚ÄĚ

For these reasons and more, Fulton County District 6 Commissioner Emma I. Darnell has scheduled a Public Hearing on Fulton County Services to cover not only Human Health and the Environment, but also Senior Services, Transition of Services (to City of South Fulton from the County) and other critical county-delivered services to residents.

The District 6 Public Hearing on Fulton County Services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 6:30 p.m. at the County’s South Fulton Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA 30336.
