Fulton Board Approves Agreement for Design of Rogers Bridge | Print |

At its May 4 meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement that will allow for future development of a pedestrian bridge connecting parks in the cities of Johns Creek and Duluth.

“I am pleased at this first step in a collaborative project that will both enhance recreational opportunities and create backup water supply systems for Fulton residents,” said Fulton County Commission Vice Chairman Liz Hausmann.

The Intergovernmental Agreement will allow for the rehabilitation of Rogers Bridge over the Chattahoochee River, over existing water pipes, which will be incorporated in the bridge construction.   Fulton and Gwinnett counties, along with the cities of Duluth and Johns Creek will collaborate in funding this project.   The agreement will also allow for water system connectivity, allowing Fulton County to receive emergency backup water supply from Gwinnett County.

Following design, the participating governments are expected to collaborate on the construction phase of the project, including identification of possible grant funding, with the Georgia Department of Transportation identified a potential major funding source.
