On Wednesday, June 3, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution, sponsored by Chairman John H. Eaves and Commissioner Joan P. Garner, urging the Probate Court to begin preparations for the historic ruling.  The Probate Court prepared for this ruling by making needed modifications to the marriage license application in advance of the Supreme Court decision.

Three Fulton County Probate Court office locations issue marriage licenses. These are located at:

  • Fulton County Courthouse - 136 Pryor Street, Suite C-230, Atlanta, Georgia 30303
  • North Fulton Service Center - 7741 Roswell Road, Suite 225, Atlanta, Georgia 30350
  • South Fulton Service Center - 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, Suite 218, College Park, Georgia 30349

Individuals with questions about the marriage license process may go online to http://fultoncountyga.gov/fcprobate-marriage-license or call (404) 613-4583 or (404) 612-4640.  The fee for couples who have not received pre-marital counseling is $56, payable in cash only (no bills larger than $20). The fee for couples who have a certificate indicating that they have completed approved pre-marital counseling is $16.

For the convenience of individuals who wish to be married the date of the ruling, a mass wedding ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. in Assembly Hall of the Fulton County Government Center, 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta.  This ceremony will include participation from a number of judges from the Fulton County courts, including the Probate Court, Superior Court, State Court and Magistrate Court.
