Fulton County Announces Diabetes ALERT Day | Print |

Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure, non-traumatic lower limb amputations, and new cases of blindness among adults in the United States.  In an effort to increase awareness to this epidemic, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness’ Office of Health Promotions will host information session on Diabetes ALERT Day and will hold a meeting to place residents on notice about the devastating effect of this disease on individuals and families.

Immunizations are not just for children, adults also need to be current with their vaccines. Rising cases of whooping cough and seasonal flu prompted experts to revise adult vaccination recommendations.Changes in the 2011 recommendations reflect efforts to protect adults and young, vulnerable children they may encounter. The dose and timing of a relatively new vaccine for adults, Tdap, have been updated.

Fulton County Behavioral Health has taken the first step to expand services to residents by developing a database for mental health providers to register their organizations to collaborate with the county to continue to provide quality mental health care to residents.

Fulton County Arts & Culture 2011 Summer Camp Programs | Print |

Don’t miss your chance to register your child for the Fulton County Arts & Culture 2011 Summer Camp ARTS Through the Ages. The camp is comprised of four one-week sessions. Students’ ages 5-12 years old are eligible to participate. Campers will rotate through music, dance, theatre and visual arts classes each day. Fulton County Employees will receive a 25% discount for enrolling a student.

Fulton County Cooperative Extension wants all residents to develop regular physical activity habits, get healthier and have fun while “walking across Georgia”.  Daily activities such as walking the dog, going for a jog and playing catch with the kids quickly add up to virtual miles that are used to “walk” across the state.

Fulton County Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards, District 7, will host his first Quarterly “Community Listening Session” for 2011 on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.  The public is invited to voice their comments about Fulton County services in South Fulton.

Fulton County Behavioral Health Services is reaching out to mental health professionals to improve access to services offered in the county.  A database called the Partner Information Network System or (PINS) has been established for providers to register their information with the county.
