Fulton County Observes National Recovery Month | Print |

Fulton County Commissioners will kick off the County‚Äôs observance of National Recovery Month with a proclamation on September 4, 2019.   In conjunction with the proclamation, the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) is hosting the ‚ÄúTogether We Are Stronger ‚Äď Recovery Fair‚ÄĚ from 9 a.m. ‚Äď 12 p.m. outside  Assembly Hall in the Fulton County Government Center located at 141 Pryor Street, Atlanta, GA 30303.   The event will feature community-based organizations offering resources for recovery for those who suffer from substance abuse or other behavioral health disorders.  

The ‚ÄúTogether We Are Stronger Town Hall Forum   on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the City Springs Center located at 1 Galambos Way in Sandy Springs, GA 30328, will focus on opioid use disorder and strategies to support recovery from opioid addiction and other substances.The Town Hall begins at 5:30 p.m. and will feature candid conversations from two persons in long term recovery who will discuss their challenging paths to sobriety, and will include input from experts who can provide guidance to families of substance abusers or individuals seeking help for themselves.

BHDD and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Office of Behavioral Health Prevention-State Opioid Response are collaborating to present the forum.   The evening will feature the preview of videos to be used in public service campaigns produced by the State and Fulton County. The Fulton County videos will feature Ryan Cole and Stephanie Kimsey, both of whom are celebrating continued recovery and new lives that include stable employment, lives with new directions and stronger family relationships.

Fulton County‚Äôs observance of National Recovery Month will also include an Open House hosted by the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities at the South Fulton Service Center. Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.   The South Fulton Service Center is located at 5600 Stonewall Tell Road College Park, GA 30349
