Fulton County Diabetes Information Session a Success | Print |

In an effort to increase awareness to the diabetes epidemic, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness’ Division of Health Promotion hosted diabetes initiative kick-off on Diabetes ALERT Day to place residents on notice about the devastating effect of this disease on individuals and families. More than 100 community advocates, health professionals and residents attended to learn more about how they can help combat the disease.

The meeting provided an opportunity for residents to share perspectives on some of the most challenging issues surrounding Diabetes in Fulton County and to identify focus areas that can be addressed through group collaboration. Meeting objectives were to:

*Educate stakeholders on shared challenges and opportunities regarding diabetes

*Identify collaborators interested in participating in a county initiative to make meaningful progress toward combating diabetes in Fulton County

The session was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Center for Health and Rehabilitation located at 265 Boulevard NE, Atlanta, GA 30312. A high level of interest has prompted the planning of two more information sessions for 2011.
