On June 16, 2010, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved $380,000 to purchase land to expand and improve the existing Adamsville Health Center.

The improvements will increase the center's size giving it more adequate space to provide immediate services to residents in the surrounding area. The new Adamsville Community Health Center will have between 25,000 and 30,000 square feet of space and will serve as a regional health center for the residents of Adamsville and surrounding communities.

The 4-acres purchased are located within three-tenths of a mile of the existing health center located at 3699 Bakers Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30331.

Proposed services at Adamsville Community Health Center include OB/GYN with expansion into primary care, immunization services, communicable disease intervention, WIC/Nutrition education, behavioral health counseling, behavioral health group sessions, library/resource center, childcare for parents receiving service, workforce development services and housing assistance.  Additionally, the new center will have a health-oriented campus that includes a Farmer’s Market, walking tracks and a public plaza with a healing garden.

The estimated total cost for the reconstruction of the health center is $7.9 million.  This project will be funded through Fulton County’s Capital Fund.
