Clerk to the Commission Â
Â
Welcome to the Office of the Clerk to the Commission website.
The Clerk to the Commission is officially responsible for the County seal and the retention and preservation of official records including meeting agendas, minutes, resolutions, ordinances, and appointments to more than 60 county-appointed boards and authorities. The Clerk to the Commission primary role is to efficiently and effectively manage the goals and expectations of the Board of Commissioners.
The Board of Commissioners is responsible for establishing policy to guide the administrative functions of County departments. The legal powers of the county are exercised by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners during their regularly scheduled meetings and the official records of those actions are the meeting minutes. Therefore, the clerk is required to attend all Board of Commissioners’ meetings and ensure accurate recording of the proceedings. Meeting preparation is one of the most important services that the clerk provides to the board including: preparation of the meeting agenda, distribution of agenda packets, recording any and all actions taken by the board; and the safekeeping and preservation of meeting minutes, agreements, resolutions, ordinances, and contracts.
Internally, we provide administrative, accounting, procurement, personnel, payroll, facility management, hospitality services, and technological services to the Executive Offices of the Board of Commissioners. The clerk also facilitates communication between Commissioners, staff and the public, including providing information on upcoming meetings and agendas.
Â
Sincerely,
Clerk to the Commission
